Dip Dyed Jeans, Distressed with Rustic Zippers
Details
A skinny jean finished with dip dyed bottoms, so the color deepens toward the ankle instead of running flat down the leg.
The dip dye is the detail that carries the piece — the lower leg has been taken into the dye and the upper leg has not, which gives a gradient nobody has to draw on. Distressing is worked across the surface, and the zippers are rustic in finish rather than bright, so the hardware sits back into the cloth instead of jumping off it. A shoestring belt threads the waist. The blend is 97% cotton with 3% spandex. Machine wash cold, inside-out, on a gentle cycle with like colors, then line dry.
A gradient leg reads best when nothing above it is competing, so a plain top and a low shoe. This one is built for going out rather than working in, and it holds up as the interesting piece in an otherwise simple fit.
